Body basically ovoid or elongate-ovoid, with posterior pole oddly shaped because of bearing entire buccal cavity and its (infundibular) opening; macronucleus and systémes sécants reminiscent of Nyctotheridae; endosymbionts in certain insects (termites, wood-feeding roaches) only.
